Week 7: Recipe Of The Week

Don’t Be Scared of PEA Green

This week’s Recipe of the Week is centered around a color I think people are [rightlfully] afraid of… Hollow Pea Green.

I get it. Pea green feels risky. It’s not the first thing you reach for when you’re choosing a color. But every time I use it on a client the reaction is the same. It ends up being their favorite part.

Hollow Pea Green is not loud in the way people expect. It’s soft, different, and a little magical. She’s the fairy hiding in the garden. She’s the ray of sunshine on a cold day reminding you there is warmth to be felt. She’s unexpected, and that’s exactly why she works.

🌀 This Week’s Recipe

See the blend here!

✶ Moth to a Flame (Tinsel or Non Tinsel)
✶ Atomic Clementine( Tinsel or Non Tinsel)
✶ Hollow

The playful pink and orange pull you in first, and then the green balances everything so it doesn’t feel overly neon. It ends up bright but still wearable. Its giving fairy UTOPIA.

Why This Blend Works

Green is actually one of the best supporting colors you can use. Instead of competing with pink and orange, it grounds them. It keeps the blend from looking flat and gives your eye somewhere to rest.

Without it, the blend is just bright.
With it, the blend feels personal.

Hollow Pea Green pairs really well with:
✶ other greens
✶ blues
✶ neons
✶ black & moreeee

You think it cannot be mixed... but alas.

How to Mix It

If we're jumping the gun and you're like... wait I don't even know how to mix up the hair.... I made a tutorial showing exactly how to do so:

Watch the mixing tutorial here →

The little pops of green are what make this one special and if you overmix a green and an orange youre going to get... brown.

Ways to Customize

This one is super easy to adjust depending on your comfort level:

✶ Want it brighter? Add more pink or orange
✶ Want it softer? Use less pink
✶ Want it moodier? Add darker tones
✶ Want it greener? Lean into Hollow Pea Green (plssss)

You really can’t mess this one up.

The Takeaway

The whole point of this week is simple. Hollow Pea Green is not a color to be scared of.

It’s a color that transforms a blend from cute into interesting. Once you try it, you start seeing places to use it everywhere.

Sometimes the most unexpected color is the one that makes the braid 🌱
