Week 1: Recipe Of The Week
It’s been a long time coming, but I’m officially committing to one braiding hair recipe a week for 2026 ✨
One of the most common things I hear from both customers and clients is:
“There are so many colors, I had a hard time choosing.”
or
“I wish there was a way to see colors together before committing.”
If you’ve ever felt that way, you’re not alone :)
This weekly braiding hair recipe series is my way of helping you actually see the possibilities before committing, so choosing colors feels less overwhelming and a lot more fun 🌈
Why I’m Sharing Weekly Braid Recipes
When it comes to braiding hair..especially for festivals, customs, or tie-in braids..choosing color isn’t just about picking one shade. It’s about how multiple colors work together once they’re braided.
Every custom set I make is blended by hand. For each one, I’m constantly thinking about:
✶ How colors interact and layer together
✶ Contrast vs. balance
✶ How a blend will look in different lighting
✶ What will braid cleanly without looking muddy
These weekly recipes are meant to give you a clearer visual starting point. Instead of guessing, you’ll be able to reference real color combinations that already work well together.
This Week’s Recipe
This particular blend was inspired by a customer who chose these colors for a custom tie-in braid set. While making it, I kept thinking about how versatile the combination was - bold without being overpowering.
🌀 Recipe:
✶ Disco
✶ Grape (Tinsel or Non Tinsel)
✶ No Collabs (Tinsel or Non Tinsel)
This blend brings together depth, contrast, and pops of color that stay interesting throughout the entire braid.
How to Use These Recipes
Each recipe is meant to be a creative guide, not a rule.
You can:
✶ Swap one color for something similar you already love
✶ Adjust how much of each color you use
✶ Use the recipe as inspiration for tie-ins, full braid sets, or customs
✶ Save recipes that match your vibe or upcoming festivals
Whether you’re braiding your own hair or creating for clients, these recipes are here to make the color-choosing process easier and more enjoyable!
What to Expect Going Forward
I’ll be sharing one braid recipe every week throughout 2026, inspired by:
✶ Customer customs
✶ Festival seasons
✶ Color theory experiments
✶ Combinations I can’t stop thinking about
Some blends will be loud. Some will be subtle. All of them are designed to show what’s possible when you start thinking in combinations instead of single colors.
If choosing braiding hair colors has ever felt overwhelming, I hope this series helps you feel more confident, more inspired, and more excited to create.
