Week 2: Recipe Of The Week

Week 2: Recipe Of The Week

This week’s Recipe of the Week was inspired by a cool outfit I saw another small business owner create! Super Hot and Mysterious made this super iconic pink and orange fit that I LOVE so I really wanted to see what the hair could look like with it.. and might I say... its veryyy Lizzie McGuire coded.

🌀 This Week’s Recipe

See the blend here!

Place to Be (Tinsel or Non Tinsel)

Atomic Clementine (Tinsel or Non Tinsel)

Moth to a Flame (Tinsel or Non Tinsel)

No Collabs (Tinsel or Non Tinsel)

Soft Launch

This combination works because the warm shades play nicely with the teal and ombre, creating depth and movement without overpowering the blend.

Why This Blend Works

Blends that mix warm & cool tones can get muddy fast if everything is mixed too evenly. The secret here is restraint ;)

If you’re mixing this recipe at home:

✶ Don’t overmix the colors

✶ Let individual shades stay visible

✶ Use separation to maintain dimension

A little space between colors keeps the blend looking dynamic instead of flat.

Hot Tips for Mixing

Especially during dry months, these small habits make a big difference:

✶ Always cut out knots as you go
Blending through them only creates more problems later.. (we've all been there)

✶ Brush often while blending
This keeps the hair smooth and evenly distributed while assisting in blending the individual strands.

✶ Use product sparingly but intentionally
A few light spritzes of amika: The Wizard helps to tame frizz without weighing the hair down.

✶ Water is your best friend
When all else fails, a spray bottle with water brings a ton of control.

How to Use These Recipes

Each recipe is meant to be a creative guide, not a rule.

You can:

✶ Swap one color for something similar you already love

✶ Adjust how much of each color you use

✶ Use the recipe as inspiration for tie-ins, full braid sets, or customs

✶ Save recipes that match your vibe or upcoming festivals

Whether you’re braiding your own hair or creating for clients, these recipes are here to make the color-choosing process easier and more enjoyable!

The Takeaway

This Recipe of the Week is proof that you don’t need complicated blends to create something special. Thoughtful color placement, intentional separation, and good prep make all the difference!

The goal of this series is to help you see what’s possible before you commit..and to make choosing colors feel fun instead of overwhelming :)

If choosing braiding hair colors has ever felt overwhelming, I hope this series helps you feel more confident, more inspired, and more excited to create.
